CHANDIGARH — May 23, 2026 — Artificial intelligence moved from classroom discussion to hands-on research practice at Panjab University as the Centre for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (CSDE) concluded its five-day Skill Enhancement Course on “AI-Augmented Research Analytics using Advanced Excel and Python” on Saturday.
The intensive 30-hour programme, which ran from May 19 to May 23, trained a cohort of research scholars and faculty members in leveraging Advanced Excel, Python, and cutting-edge AI tools for data-driven academic research. The curriculum specifically focused on critical modern competencies, including data cleaning, predictive analytics, visualization, dashboarding, generative AI, chatbot development, and AI-assisted application development.
The initiative highlights a growing shift in higher education toward data-backed research and AI-enabled academic practice. Throughout the week, participants were trained to view Excel, Python, and AI not as isolated technical utilities, but as part of an integrated research workflow—moving seamlessly from organizing raw data to building visual evidence and communicating findings with clarity.
Mr. Harshvir Singh, Managing Director of Drish Infotech Ltd., attended the valedictory ceremony as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, Singh emphasized that AI and data analytics have transitioned from optional capabilities to essential survival skills for modern researchers. He noted that the future workplace will reward professionals who successfully combine deep domain knowledge with digital fluency, problem-solving agility, and dependability.
Welcoming the gathering, Prof. Suveera Gill, Honorary Director of CSDE, stated that the course was deliberately engineered to build core data confidence rather than to merely introduce software tools. She emphasized that the core philosophy of the program rests on “AI-augmented research,” where technology supports the scholar without replacing critical human academic judgment. Prof. Gill added that the initiative reflects CSDE’s ongoing commitment to promoting skill-based, interdisciplinary, and technology-enabled learning at Panjab University while anchoring workflows in methodological rigor and academic integrity.
The program concluded with a definitive message for the academic community: the future of research belongs to those who can deploy AI responsibly, critically, and creatively.
