Sidhivinayak taimes Shimla। Panjab University, Chandigarh, celebrated Republic Day on Monday with a vibrant ceremony marked by patriotism and academic pride on the campus. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig unfurled the National Flag at the Parade Ground and took the salute of the Guard of Honour presented by contingents of NCC, NSS, university security staff and school students, in the presence of faculty members, students and invited international guests from Curtin University, Australia. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Vig underscored the constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, while highlighting the University’s significant achievements in teaching, research and global rankings, including its NAAC A++ accreditation and strong presence in international research indices.

She also drew attention to new research infrastructure, innovation and incubation initiatives, student welfare projects and outreach programmes undertaken by the University. On the occasion, several non-teaching employees were honoured for their dedicated service, and young cricketer Aditi Sheoran received a Certificate of Excellence for her contribution to women’s cricket. The celebrations concluded with colourful cultural performances by students of Panjab University and affiliated schools, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion.
