Chandigarh : Department of Psychiatry, Drug De-Addiction & Treatment Centre (DDTC), PGIMER, Chandigarh has organised an awareness session to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, 2025 on theme for this year Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention; Break the Cycle.
Dr. Rahul Chakravarty, Assistant Professor and Dr. Kshitij, Assistant Professor, Dr. Harsh Thapa, Senior Resident shared about the different types of drugs and their impact on the health. Dr. Kshitij talked about the severe impact of drug abuse and addiction is having on people’s lives, and also on societal peace, development, and growth
Nikita, Arpna Rattu, and Neetu Rani, Medical Social Worker, had talked about the stigma related to treatment.
As part of the event, B.Sc. (nursing) students and patients participated in poster-making and slogan-writing competitions. The students were felicitated by the faculty. The second event took place in the community at Indra Colony, Manimajra aimed to raise awareness about the importance of prevention, treatment, and support in addressing drug abuse and illicit trafficking. DDTC, PGIMER Chandigarh reaffirms its commitment to addressing substance abuse and promoting a healthier community.
