Siddhivinayak Taimes Shimla In 2025, Panjab University continued to strengthen its position as a leading institution of higher education and research. The University surpassed 31,000 high-impact research publications, contributing 2,400 papers in 2025 alone, and maintained an impressive overall H-index of 272. Recognized for its academic excellence, the University received the prestigious Category-I status from the University Grants Commission and achieved NAAC A++ accreditation with a score of 3.68. In global rankings, Panjab University secured the 276th position in Asia and ranked between 901–950 globally in the QS World University Rankings 2026, while also featuring in the top 2% of scientists globally with 51 faculty members recognized in the Stanford–Elsevier list. Domestically, it ranked 35th among Indian universities in NIRF 2025 and third among State Public Universities.
The year also saw significant growth in infrastructure and research initiatives. Devi Ahilyabai Hall, Girls’ Hostel No. 11, was inaugurated, and the campus introduced a QR code-based vehicle entry system alongside new buses and safety equipment. Panjab University hosted International Science Week with over 1,000 participants and strengthened research collaborations through 225 MoUs. The University managed 209 sponsored projects, 66 consultancy projects, and advanced innovation with pre-incubation centres and the PI-RAHI initiative in collaboration with IIT Ropar. Notable achievements include over 200 patents to date, installation of advanced SAIF/CIL equipment, ICMR-funded research on PCOS and nanoparticle therapeutics, and the launch of the PU Cyber Wellness Clinic to promote cybersecurity awareness. With a focus on internationalization, Panjab University increased foreign national seats by 25% in line with the National Education Policy, while celebrating academic excellence through two convocations and participation in global initiatives, cementing its reputation as a hub of innovation, research, and academic distinction.
