Sidhivinayak time’s Shimla The 8th National Conference of the Indian Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics, ISHICON 2025, opened today at PGIMER, Chandigarh, under the theme “Innovation Driven Transplant Immunology: Sharpening the Cutting Edge.” The three-day conference, running from December 11 to 13, was inaugurated with addresses from Conference Chair Prof. Biman Saikia, Secretary Dr. Uma Kanga, ISHI President Prof. Narinder K. Mehra, and a vote of thanks by Conference Secretary Prof. Ritu Aggarwal, who acknowledged the contributions of the organising and scientific committees. Prof. Saikia expressed his satisfaction at the enthusiastic participation, highlighting ISHICON 2025 as a platform to push the frontiers of transplant immunology in India, foster collaboration, and translate research into patient-centric solutions. The inaugural session featured a keynote address by Prof. Narinder K. Mehra on the “Evolution of Transplant Immunology in India” and the prestigious Prof. Narinder Mehra Oration delivered by Prof. Alejandro Madrigal from the UK on advanced donor-selection strategies for stem cell transplantation.

International experts including Eric Spierings (Netherlands), Rob Liwski (Canada), and Raja Rajalingam (USA) joined leading national faculty to share insights on the latest developments in the field. A special lecture by Dr. Anil Kumar, Director of NOTTO underscored the importance of a coordinated organ and tissue transplant ecosystem in India. Young scientists also presented their innovative research through oral and poster sessions. With nearly 110 delegates, Day 1 of ISHICON 2025 concluded on a high note, reflecting the conference’s strong scientific content, collaborative spirit, and commitment to advancing transplant immunology. The next two days promise engaging sessions featuring case discussions, innovations, and interactive expert deliberations.
