Sidhivinayak time’s Shimla: Chandigarh-based Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO), PGIMER, made a remarkable impact at the Haryana Youth Festival 2025, held at Indradhanush Auditorium, Sector 5, Panchkula. The three-day event, organised by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, saw an enthusiastic participation of students, young professionals, and youth groups, providing ROTTO–PGIMER a unique platform to raise awareness about the critical importance of organ donation. The awareness stall set up by ROTTO–PGIMER quickly became a focal point of the festival, attracting large numbers of attendees keen to learn about the life-saving potential of organ donation. The team conducted interactive sessions, explained the concept of brain death, and addressed common misconceptions, showing how a single donor can transform multiple lives. Over the course of the festival, 234 young participants pledged to support organ donation, demonstrating a strong commitment among Haryana’s youth to this humanitarian cause.
The initiative received strong support from state leadership. Krishan Lal Panwar, Minister for Development & Panchayats, inaugurated the festival and visited the ROTTO–PGIMER stall, while Gaurav Gautam, Minister for Sports, Youth Empowerment & Entrepreneurship, along with senior officials, also interacted with the team. Both ministers appreciated the effort and encouraged young attendees to champion organ donation as a noble social responsibility. Highlighting the role of youth in driving societal change, Sanjeev Sharma, Additional Director, Skill Development, remarked that young people are pivotal in spreading awareness and fostering a culture of giving, noting that their engagement can amplify the life-saving impact of organ donation far beyond the festival. On behalf of ROTTO–PGIMER, Prof. Vipin Koushal, Nodal Officer, expressed gratitude to the Department of Youth Empowerment & Entrepreneurship for offering such a vibrant platform, emphasizing that interactions with young participants greatly strengthened the organisation’s mission to promote organ donation. Through initiatives like these, ROTTO–PGIMER continues to nurture a compassionate ecosystem in Haryana, where organ donation is recognized, encouraged, and embraced as a socially valued act of humanity.
