Sidhivinayak taimes Shimla। In a significant step towards promoting organ donation among young people, the Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO), PGIMER, Chandigarh, in collaboration with SUKH Foundation, organised an Organ Donation Awareness and Interaction Session at MCM DAV College, Sector 36, Chandigarh, as part of NSS Week. The programme aimed to provide students and NSS volunteers with accurate information about the medical, ethical and legal aspects of organ donation, while addressing common misconceptions through an interactive discussion with experts. The session witnessed active participation from students, who engaged with the resource team through a lively question-and-answer segment. Mrs. Saryu D. Madra, Consultant (IEC/Media), ROTTO, PGIMER, highlighted that organ donation is based on trust and transparency, and stressed that informed youth can play a crucial role in spreading awareness within communities.

Dr. Navdeep Bansal, Transplant Coordinator, PGIMER, clarified key medical concerns, explaining that brain death is a legally certified irreversible condition and that organ retrieval is conducted with dignity, ensuring that the body is returned to the family without any delay in last rites. Mr. Amit Dewan, President, SUKH Foundation, said that the collaboration aims to replace fear with facts and build a compassionate society through youth engagement. Mrs. Meenakshi Rana, NSS Coordinator of MCM DAV College, encouraged volunteers to become ambassadors of the cause and promote organ donation in their campuses. A memento was also presented to Mrs. Neena Sharma, Principal, MCM DAV College, in recognition of the institute’s support for socially relevant initiatives. The programme concluded with NSS volunteers pledging to actively advocate organ donation awareness in their communities, reinforcing the shared commitment of ROTTO–PGIMER, SUKH Foundation and NSS towards building an informed and empathetic society.
