Human Chain Formation on “Chandigarh Will Vote” and “Chandigarh Say No To Drugs

A human chain formation on “Chandigarh Will Vote” and “Chandigarh Say No To Drugs” was formed by 1000 students of Education Department on 27.10.23 at Rose Garden, Sector- 16 Chandigarh. The said event was organized by the Election Department; Department of Social Welfare and Department of School Education with the motive to spread wide awareness amongst the citizens of Chandigarh against Drug Abuse as well as to announce the beginning of special summary revision 2024 and the publication of the draft roll.

The Home Secretary-cum-Secretary, Social Welfare, Shri Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with the Guest of Honour, theFinance Secretary-cum-Chief Electoral Officer, Dr,Vijay Namdeorao Zade; the Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Sourabh Arora and the Director, Social Welfare cum Nodal Officer SVEEP. All the dignitaries participated in the signature campaign and released the balloon with the message to participate in the election and stay away from drugs.

However, with this formation of the Grand Human Chain, the Election Department published the Integrated Draft Electoral Roll w.r.t. 1st January, 2024, as the qualifying date, today as part of the Special Summary Revision of 2024. The Chief Electoral Officer, U.T. Chandigarh, urged all citizens to check their credentials in the electoral roll with the help of the Voter Helpline App, Voters.eci.gov.in, and by visiting the ceochandigarh.gov.in website. In case the name does not exist in the electoral roll, one mayregister themselves through the Voter Helpline App or voters.eci.gov.in by filing Form 6 online. Also, citizens may register themselves as voters from 27th October, 2023, to December 9th, 2023, for filing claims and objections.
