Sidhivinayak taimes Shimla। The Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (CAQM-NCR) unveiled the 6th edition of the Eco-Health Calendar 2026, marking a renewed effort to strengthen public awareness on sustainable development and health. The calendar was released by Shri Rajesh Verma, Chairperson of CAQM-NCR , during a ceremony attended by senior officials and experts including Dr. S.D. Attri, Dr. Virinder Sharma , Dr. Mukesh Sharma, Dr. S.K. Goyal, Dr. Vikas Singh and Prof. Ravindra Khaiwal. The Eco-Health Calendar, conceptualized and designed by Prof. Suman Mor (Panjab University) and Prof. Ravindra Khaiwal (PGIMER, Chandigarh), aligns with the national vision of Viksit Bharat’ and highlights the theme ‘Energy, Cities and Agriculture for Climate-Compatible Growth’ for 2026. Speaking at the event, Shri Rajesh Verma emphasized that environmental sustainability is essential for achieving a developed India and called upon citizens to adopt everyday practices such as conserving energy, minimizing waste, using public transport, and avoiding plastics.
Dr. S.D. Attri stressed the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration and effective communication to engage communities in environmental protection, while Dr. Virinder Sharma underlined the need to integrate health into air quality and environmental planning for long-term impact. Prof. Ravindra Khaiwal noted that the calendar serves as a practical tool for sustainable planning throughout the year, and Prof. Suman Mor described it as part of the Community Environmental Empowerment Program (CEEP) aimed at promoting greener lifestyles. The initiative reflects CAQM’s continued commitment to bridging science, policy, and community action for cleaner air and healthier living.
