CHANDIGARH: The Thalassaemic Charitable Trust (TCT), in collaboration with the Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, and the Rotaract Club of Legis Social, organized its 330th blood donation camp on Thursday.
The initiative aimed to ensure an uninterrupted blood supply for thalassaemic patients and others in urgent need. A total of 40 voluntary donors participated in the camp. Each donor was honored with a certificate, badge, and a token of appreciation for their contribution.
To raise public awareness, the Trust set up a dedicated Thalassemia Awareness Desk. Intern doctors from the College of Oral Health Sciences, Panjab University, also attended the event, interacting with Sh. Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary of the Trust, to learn more about the condition and the challenges faced by patients.
Prof. (Dr.) R.R. Sharma, Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine, joined Shri Rajinder Kalra in thanking the donors. They emphasized that regular voluntary donation is critical for the survival of those dependent on frequent blood transfusions and appealed to the public to support the cause.
The camp concluded successfully with the combined efforts of the PGIMER medical team and TCT volunteers.
