Sidhivinayak time’s Shimla PGIMER Chandigarh has once again secured national recognition for its outstanding contribution to evidence-based health policymaking, being adjudged the Best Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Institute in India for the second consecutive year. The honour was conferred by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at the national conclave ARISE 2025, held at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi. The award was presented by Prof. V. K. Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, and Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Director-General, ICMR and Secretary, Department of Health Research, in the presence of leading policymakers and health experts from across the country.The recognition acknowledges PGIMER’s sustained leadership in Health Technology Assessment through its HTA Resource Hub, established under the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health with support from the Department of Health Research.

Led by Dr. Shankar Prinja, Professor of Health Economics, the Hub has played a pivotal role in generating high-quality evidence to guide health financing, pricing of medical technologies, and coverage decisions under major national health programmes. Dr. Prinja received the award on behalf of the institute at the conclave. Speaking on the occasion, national leaders highlighted the growing importance of HTA in ensuring efficient and equitable use of public resources. Prof. V. K. Paul emphasized that robust institutions like PGIMER are central to achieving the vision of a developed India, while Dr. Rajiv Bahl noted that HTA has become a critical policy tool for rational decision-making in healthcare. The award further strengthens PGIMER Chandigarh’s standing as a national centre of excellence and its continued commitment to advancing value-based, evidence-driven health systems in India.
