Shimla, March 22, 2026 – In a proud moment for the state, the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Response Force (HP SDRF) was honored today at Oak Over, Shimla, for securing the 1st position at the National Level Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) Competition for the second year in a row.
The winning team presented their prestigious trophy to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, who lauded their exceptional dedication and professionalism. The ceremony was organized under the leadership of Smt. Satwant Atwal, Director General of Police-cum-Commandant General of Home Guards, SDRF, and Fire Services.
Breaking Records in Ghaziabad
The HP SDRF team outshone 30 teams from 27 States and Union Territories at the competition held at the 8th Battalion NDRF Campus in Ghaziabad (March 9–11, 2026). Not only did they defend their title, but they also smashed their previous record by completing the rescue drills in a remarkable 41 minutes.
- 1st Place: Himachal Pradesh SDRF
- 2nd Place: Uttar Pradesh SDRF
- 3rd Place: Andhra Pradesh SDRF
Digital Leap: Home Guard Volunteer Management System Launched
To modernize disaster management, the Chief Minister also launched the Home Guard Volunteer Management System. Developed with technical support from NIC Himachal Pradesh, this digital platform will streamline:
- Duty allocation and deployment tracking.
- Training and leave records.
- Real-time monitoring and administrative efficiency.
Dignitaries in Attendance
The event saw the presence of Education Minister Shri Rohit Thakur, ACS (Home) Shri K.K. Pant, and senior officers from the SDRF and Fire Services. A documentary highlighting the HP SDRF’s life-saving missions and high-level training was also screened.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making Himachal Pradesh a disaster-resilient state, awarding appreciation certificates to every member of the history-making team.
