Chandigarh, March 29:
“Punjab’s much-publicised ‘health revolution’ under the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann government stands completely exposed. The pain of an ordinary family, as seen in a recent video, reveals how the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme has failed the very people it claims to protect,” said Ashwani Sharma, Working State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Punjab.
Ashwani Sharma stated that despite tall claims and crores being spent on advertisements, the reality on the ground is grim. “A family, despite holding a valid health insurance card, received no financial relief during a medical emergency. The card turned out to be nothing more than a piece of paper, offering not even a single rupee of assistance against a hefty hospital bill,” he added.
Drawing a sharp contrast, Sharma highlighted the success of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana of the Central Government. “While Ayushman Bharat ensures free and accessible healthcare to crores of citizens without discrimination, Punjab’s model has proven to be hollow and misleading,” he asserted.
He further accused the state government of prioritising political propaganda over public welfare. “The truth is that Bhagwant Mann is more focused on polishing his political image than safeguarding the health of Punjab’s people. Governance cannot run on advertisements while citizens suffer,” Sharma said.
Demanding accountability, Sharma urged the state government to answer why such schemes are failing on the ground and called for immediate corrective measures to ensure genuine healthcare support for every citizen of Punjab.
