Siddhivinayak Taimes Shimla Chandigarh, 26 December 2025 – In a heartwarming celebration of courage and values, PGIMER, Chandigarh organized special activities at the Advanced Paediatric Centre (APC) to mark Veer Baal Diwas. The event was designed to engage children admitted to the hospital as well as young visitors, offering a range of creative and educational activities including drawing, colouring, and poetry recitation competitions. The celebrations were graced by Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER; Prof. Ashok Kumar, Acting Medical Superintendent; Prof. Praveen Kumar, HoD, Pediatrics; and Dr. Mahesh Devnani, Joint Medical Superintendent. Prof. Lal paid tribute to the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas and highlighted the importance of courage, sacrifice, and strong moral values in shaping the nation. He also stressed the role of parents in nurturing these values in children. Dr. Ashok Kumar extended his gratitude to all the participants for their enthusiastic involvement.
The competitions witnessed spirited participation, with 75 children taking part in the drawing and colouring contest and 50 children showcasing their talent in poetry recitation. Winners of the drawing competition included Vihaan (11 years), Naman (11 years), and Aavya (9 years). The poetry competition recognized seven outstanding young participants: Nairiti (8 years), Jamisha (10 years), Sunidhi (11 years), Hiyan (6 years), Aprityam Roy (11 years), Jancy Nyol (9 years), and Khavya Sharma (10 years). The events were expertly judged by Prof. Jayshree M., Dr. Aastha Takkar, and Dr. Narinder Kumar, who lauded the children for their creativity, confidence, and expressive skills.
The Veer Baal Diwas celebrations concluded on a joyful note, leaving children inspired and motivated, carrying forward the spirit of bravery, creativity, and moral values in their everyday lives.
